I know nothing about boats but have always been curious about how far large “luxury yachts” go.
this is just a random yacht I saw online (http://www.showmanagement.com/palm_beach_international_boat_show/event/boat_listing/6562?from_search=yes)

In ideal cruising weather about how far do you think a boat this size could travel?
also how fast is a knot?
It’s not the optimal size to go “asfar as possible” …even on lowest power you’ll need very muchto push it.
But that’s not the idea behind a boat like this…you just go the fuel barge and say “fill it up” (20.000gallons)
My boat has 2 6 Cyl Diesels and on lowest power, with one engine going, it consumes 16 litres an hour, Tanks empty in about 50 hours.
Sailing is the way to go far on low cost.
