I finished everything except these last 4 questions which I had trouble solving :

1) You put both a plus and minus in the first question on the 2nd quotient, but I will assume it is a positive sign. If you factor the 3rd quotient, you will find it makes (x+3)(x-3). This is the common denominator for the problem, and you now multiply each term by it to completely remove all the denominators in the question, simplify, and solve for x. My answers are x=-3 and x= -1/2. Try it yourself.

2) I don’t understand what you are asking, can not help you.

3) I established a ratio of the dist. up river/ dist. down river.
The ratio is 20:50, which put into a fraction is 2/5= 0.4
I then multiplied that ratio by the speed of the boat, and I got an answer of 2.8 mph, which will round to 3mph. I think this is how you do this question, never did one like this before.

4) Let x be time it takes to paint the house. You must find the rate of how fast each person can paint a portion of the house in 1 hour.
Man= paint house in 5 hours, so 1/5 house per hour
Woman= paint house in 4 hours, so 1/4 house per hour

( man rate x time) + (woman rate x time) = 1 house painted
1/5x+ 1/4x= 1
You solve the rest.
