Different Types of Power Boats

Unlike a sailing boat that works on wind power, a power boat is a vessel that operates on mechanical power. Most fishing boats today are power boats and are propelled by a motor that is attached to them. There are various kinds of power boats that are used today and while some are meant for fishing there are other power boats like the racer that are meant for recreational purposes. The main types of power boats that you can find today are: – Dinghy – This is a power boat that uses a2 stroke or 4 stroke motor. It is a small power boat and can carry about 3 people at the most. Mostly made from wood, fibreglass and aluminium, a dinghy is good for use in lakes and may not be the best option for negotiating large expanses of water. – Powered inflatables – Inflatable power boats come in various sizes. The ones that are larger are made of stronger material that can hold a larger number of people. Most of the inflatable power boats do not have any shelter or cabin that can be used for shelter from rain or storm. – Catamarans – These are power boats that are tough and can carry about 10 people or more. Catamarans are fairly stable and generally have two hulls that are connected to the deck. – Cruiser – The cruiser is also a power boat that can be used by a few people to spend the night in. It is large and generally equipped with amenities that may be required for an overnight stay. With a large variety of power boats available, you should consider the purpose for which you want to use the power boat before you decide on the one that you want to purchase.
