What is your favorite baits for river walleye fishing during the fall? I live in Michigan and fish the st.joe river and I like minnows.
I live in Wisconsin and in these rivers during that late fall run I wack the shit out of them. If you like minnows you’ll love it..Use a Wolf river rig, 8inch drop on 1/2 oz bell sinker, 3foot hook lead with as small a treble as you can get away with (I use a #12 mustad round bend with lake shiner). Cast at a 45 degree angle downstream, let sinker hit bottom, jerk like youre setting the hook, reel up half the slack, pause 1-2 seconds, now snap it again..repeat…repeat youre sinker will only be on bottom for a second or two at the most. Sometimes wally will hit it so fast it will bring back a flick on youre pause but most of the time you will simply set the hook into the fish when you snap it!!! Use a longer pause 2-3-4 seconds between snaps when water gets cold (mid low 30′s) If you can follow what I’m sayin you’ll be writting me back this fall freaking out……
