Fishing Lure Pop

Best redfish lure for winter fishing?

In Louisiana I am going fishing in a pumping station. Freshwater flows into the water. What would be the best type of lure? Would a popping corkwith a DOA shrimp work?

You could try a popping cork with a DOA Shrimp but you should also try:

1. Berkley, Gulp Jerkshad rigged weedless with a 5/0 – 6/0 Offset hook. Try “Nuclear Chicken”, “New Penny”,”White”, & “Sardine” colors- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_75761____SearchResults

2. A simple chartreuse jig with a “Blue-Chartreuse” 4″ curly-tail grub. (These will be very hard to find- I’ve only seen them on Ebay recently). Blue-Chartreuse is a great color for stained water.

3. Weedless, 1/2 OZ Gold spoon with a Chartreuse trailer, (here is an article on how effective a spoon can be)- http://www.louisianasportsman.com/printer_friendly.php?id=349

Why not try a live Mud-minnow or live Shrimp on a 1/8 – 1/4 OZ chartreuse Jig? Unless your fishing a Tournament (or strictly a lure fisherman) it’s always nice to have some bait along to ensure a catch.

Whatever lures you use I suggest you “sweeten them” by dosing them occasionally in a good saltwater attractant.
