Blue Baitcast Reel

is a penn internation baitcast sufficent for long island?

I fish mabey twice a month or so i fish for everything from bass to blues to blackfish… also what rod should i use as well with the reel?… if its not sufficient what should i get?
what rod should i use with the international baitcast
i fish saltwater if you think the international baitcast is a bit overkill wat would b a good alternative?

Penn International’s are nice reels.

You fish saltwater/freshwater?

There are many nice rods to purchase. How much do you want to spend?

UPDATE:

If you have model 955, it should be fine for Freshwater Bass-Bluefishing/light saltwater. If you have any model “bigger”, (model 965, 975, Etc.), it would be “over-kill” on the freshwater aspect, but fine for any lite-med saltwater applications.

You will probably need 2 outfits. One for fresh and one for saltwater fishing. If you can purchase a $200 + reel, (Interenationals aren’t cheap!), then you can probably “splurge” and buy an inexpensive “strictly freshwater” outfit.

In regards to rods: Ugly Stik “Lite Series” are good inexpensive salt/freshwater rods,($39.99). Obviously, you can afford a better/more expensive fishing pole. For that reason, I suggest you look into a “G Loomis” GL3/GLX or better OR the top of the line Fenwick,(HMG Series), St. Croix,(Avid Series), Daiwa, (Inshore Special), Shimano (Crucial), Etc.

Cabelas makes a nice G Loomis “copy-cat” that goes for $179. Model “XML Ti” 7′ MH action. That is a great price compared to a G Loomis starting at $250!
